‘But isn’t it a Pyramid Scheme?’

” But, isn’t it a Pyramid Scheme?”… are the words I have heard many times when I talk about Doterra. So, I decided to do a bit of research into “What is a Pyramid Scheme?”.

Firstly, ANY business or company, is a Pyramid. Let’s take a kitchen for instance. I was a chef before becoming a mum. I worked in a famous West London restaurant. We had a fairly large team in the kitchen and we all had our ‘places’. It starts at the bottom with The Porter, then the Commis chef, Chef de Parti, Sous Chef, Head Chef and finally the Executive Chef. Each ‘rank’ has different responsibilities and the higher up you are the more responsibility you have…but you also get paid more!

The same goes for any corporate company, Hospital and even Grocery Store. Every company or business has ranks or levels of responsibility and pay grades. It is just how it works!

But now let’s look at a Pyramid SCHEME…

The definition of the word is:

a large-scale systematic plan or arrangement for attaining some particular object or putting a particular idea into effect.

“the occupational sick pay scheme”

verb

make plans, especially in a devious way or with intent to do something illegal or wrong.

“he schemed to bring about the collapse of the government”

So, when we talk about Pyramid SCHEMES, it is negative and rightly so. That is because Pyramid Schemes are fraudulent investment strategies which promise consumers or investors large profits based on recruiting others to join their programs, not based on profits from any REAL investment or REAL sale of goods to the public.

Pyramid Schemes also have high entry fees or investment fees. The guys investing then recruit others to invest and before you know it loads of people have invested in a company that doesn’t even exist, the big dogs take the invested money, skip town and are never heard from again. The initial “innocent” investor is left with nothing but a trail of angry investors…you’ve all been had! There is no goodwill, charitable work or saving of the planet going on here!

Now, let’s talk Doterra…

✔️Yes, Doterra is a Multi Level Marketing company. Duh, it has multiple levels, and by using the products and telling people about them you are marketing the product and company.

✔️Yes, you earn money when someone uses your company ID to purchase product or open an account.

✔️Yes, there are some very rich people in the Doterra ‘family’ and the founders of the company are very rich. If you feel that that is not fair or that it is wrong then that is a problem with your thoughts, money mindset or feelings. The founders bend over backwards to get these oils to you and in the process help hundreds of thousands of people around the world. They mortgaged their houses and sacrificed a lot to get this company going and they have hearts of service!

So, let’s say you have heard about Doterra or somebody has told you about the oils etc. and you want to purchase something. You have choices. You can a) BUY the product at the Retail price, have it delivered to your door and enjoy it or b) You can open an account for £24/ €35 and get 25% off any products for a year, plus you get other benefits from having an account. You DO NOT have to purchase monthly, you DO NOT have to pay a monthly fee, you DO NOT have to ‘invest’ any more money AND you are actually receiving a real life product! Doterra changes the lives of so many people struggling with their health and wellness issues. These oils have been at so many births, illnesses, sport’s days, councelling sessions, kids bedsides, funerals, school tests and so much more! When you decide to use Doterra, you decide to change your life and you want those you love to experience this as well!

Now, unlike a Pyramid Scheme, anybody can be at ‘the top’. I know people that are ‘Diamonds’ in the Doterra tree but they have people who are ‘Double Diamonds’ or ‘Blue Diamonds’ above them in the tree or multi levels. Ok, I know what you are thinking, “Diamonds? Really?Isn’t that a bit crunchy!” Well, to be honest, Chief Executive Officer sounds a bit lame so I would rather be a Diamond thanks! But, the point of this is that anybody can be a Diamond etc., it’s up to you and how much you work and share and learn and teach. It also depends on how much you LOVE the product and use it. You need to have that ‘AHA!’ moment to be able to tell others about how amazing the oils are. My ‘AHA!’ moment came when I needed a miracle at my son’s birth and I used Clary Sage. Had I not been told about these oils or been to a class a week prior, it would have been a very different outcome. I have had win after win after win since then and I have no problems telling everyone I know or who wants to know about how incredible these oils and products are.

Doterra have been going for 11 years. The founders are a beautiful bunch and let me tell you that they care. They care about the Earth, they care about the farmers that they source the oils from. They care about the families in the villages surrounding the farms and forests where they source these oils from. They care about differently abled children in Malawi and girls in Nepal who have been banished to little straw huts during menstruation. They care about the children they have saved from sex slavery. They care about the education and health of the people in the little towns and villages where they source these oils. They care so much about every one and every project that they are involved in. I don’t know any Pyramid SCHEME that can say they care or that they give back in the way Doterra does.

I had to change my mindset around money and look at it as , ” I am helping someone to add value to their lives and their health.” After all, what could be more important than our health and wellbeing!!!! I mean, I have no problems telling someone about my beautiful shirt I bought at M&S or about a great restaurant where I gluttonously stuffed myself with yummy mouthful after mouthful, so why would I have a problem telling somebody about an amazing oil that has changed my life and adds value to my life and the life of my family! Why are we so worried about sharing about essential oils?

So, the next time that someone says , ” But isn’t it a Pyramid Scheme?”, give them a bottle of Hope oil and tell them a bit about the good work that Doterra does BECAUSE you chose to be a part of it!
